Objectives and Activities of India Vetiver Foundation (IVF):
- Raise Awareness and Advocate for Vetiver
- Organize workshops, webinars, and media campaigns to highlight Vetiver’s environmental and economic benefits.
- Engage with policymakers and environmental organizations to advocate for recognizing 2026 as the “Year of Vetiver.”
- Provide Training and Promote Vetiver’s Environmental Benefits
- Develop and deliver hands-on training sessions for farmers, community leaders, and agricultural experts on Vetiver’s ability to improve soil quality, conserve water, and provide Nature-Based Solutions.
- Produce instructional materials for sustainable practices and conduct local workshops tailored to regional needs.
- Enhance Farmer Income and Create Business Opportunities
- Host seminars on value-added Vetiver products, such as essential oils and handicrafts, and establish market linkages for farmers.
- Support entrepreneurs in setting up steam distillation units and explore other opportunities like biogas, briquettes, and biochar production from Vetiver.
- Establish Regional Centres of Excellence and Collaborate on Research
- Set up COEs in strategic regions to conduct research on optimal Vetiver cultivars, its applications in agriculture, and environmental protection.
- Partner with government, NGOs, and CSR initiatives to launch Vetiver-based projects in agriculture, bioengineering, and carbon sequestration.
- Foster National and International Collaboration
- Form city chapters under IVF’s guidance to foster localized initiatives and exchange knowledge.
- Organize regional and international conferences to promote Vetiver’s role in sustainability, agriculture, and construction, and collaborate on global research and development.
